Online Event Planning

Want to connect your customers with the brewers who make their favorite sake? Want to deepen your own relationship with your suppliers? Let me help!

I am an experienced sake industry online event planner and leader, and I can help make your event valuable, educational, and fun! You bring the audience, I bring the show. Click to email me today to inquire about setting up an online sake event, or read on for details.

Note: These planning services are all “Japan side.” Sponsors will need to provide the online service “space” (Zoom room, etc.) and handle audience ticketing, invitations, etc.

  • Leader of highly successful events introducing sake brewers and craftsmen to audiences all over the world.
  • Direct contact with sake breweries in western Japan (Yamaguchi, Hiroshima, Shimane, etc.) such as Sakai Shuzo/Gokyo, Nagayama Honke Shuzojo/Taka, Imada Shuzo Honten/Fukucho, and many more.
  • SSI Certified International Kikisake Shi
  • Certified Sake Professional
  • Shochu Navigator
  • Japanese to English translator with over five years’ experience
  • Japanese culture and sake writer  for Sake Today, SakeTimes, Nippon.com, etc.
  • Interpreter and program planning aid with Taste With The Toji

I have done many virtual Brewer Chats and Brewery Tours as I sell exclusively handmade, seasonal Japanese Sake. Jim is my #1 choice for virtual events because he is always prepared, thoroughly understands technical terms/processes and frankly, just loves connecting with craft breweries. You can hear his excitement and interest as he guides us on the journey. I’ve done events where breweries tried to have someone in house interpret and also used interpreters who didn’t deeply understand Sake brewing. It doesn’t work. Hire Jim.

Jim has now interpreted for a number of online events for me as part of my Taste with the Toji project. He is a joy to work with and has a great sensitivity when interpreting the stories, culture and philosophies of the brewers and breweries, which translates in a way that is appreciated by both the featured guest and attendees. I look forward to working with him on future projects..

I am very happy Jim has decided to make this part of his professional services toolbox! He has been instrumental for us to reach our audience outside of Japan. He is not only knowledgeable but has the lay of the land in Yamaguchi and can explain regional differences to our international clients with ease. Coupled with his passion for writing about sake he brings the Japanese tradition in easy to understand articles which everyone understands and craves for.

Terms:

PAYMENT: Payments must be made within thirty (30) days of invoice. All fees are to be handled by the payer (client).

CANCELLATION: Cancellation by the client prior to any labor will incur no fees or penalties. Cancellation during labor will be charged at a prorated rate based upon labor incurred at a fee of 5,000 Japanese yen per half hour of labor. Cancellation by the service provider will incur no fees (cancellation). In the event of a no-fault cancellation due to natural or technical issues beyond anyone’s control, and no reschedule is possible, no fees will be incurred.

EVENT OVERTIME: If the event goes over the 1.5 hour limit, it will be charged at a rate of 2,000 Japanese yen per ten minutes. The service provider will not be able to interpret longer than two (2) hours under any circumstances. This is non-negotiable. Interpretation is exhausting and I simply cannot perform satisfactorily after this point.

The service provider will fulfill the services outlined in the initial agreement, as in the table above. Additional requests or changes must be made in advance (at least one (1) week before scheduled event). The client will provide information (schedule period, contact information, relationship with brewery, etc.) or materials as needed for those services. The service provider will not be held liable for services unfulfilled due to a lack of the necessary information or materials.
